HOLLYWOOD: 3Dog Cantina is preparing for a mid-September launch on the Cahuenga corridor. The upscale Mexican sports bar features a gorgeous design--by Spacecraft--spread over two floors, and food including cauliflower ceviche and beer-battered fish tacos.
ATWATER VILLAGE: Spacecraft is also behind the designs for The Morrison, a new Scottish gastropub replacing a former sushi restaurant on Los Feliz Boulevard. It's a minimalist aesthetic with "... a modern interpretation of some true Highland kitchen favorites in an atmosphere that tastefully blends tradition with modern day comforts," according to a partner.
LOS FELIZ: Eater is excited about the early September opening of Mess Hall, located in the former Brown Derby building at Hillhurst and Los Feliz. Look for an emphasis on innovatively-made drinks (lemon juiced through a centrifuge), along with 175 seats, a raw bar, patio, and dedicated bar area.
WESTWOOD: Got $50,000? If you do, you can own the former Ambala Dhaba restaurant near Westwood and Santa Monica Boulevards. A fixture for 10 years, the owner is packing up but willing to sell the place, including kitchen equipment, for a song (relatively speaking).
