Val Powelson's 1960 Sunbow House With Steven Kent Reno

New, 24 comments

This butterfly-roofed residence on Solar Drive was built by architect Val Powelson in 1960, the same year he designed Rancho Mirage's famous Maranz House, featured on the cover of Palm Springs Weekend. Per the listing, the 2,098 square foot Runyon Canyon-adjacent house was remodeled by architect Steven Kent and features three bedrooms, two baths, "commercial-grade maple/basalt floors," a wood-burning fireplace, heated pool and spa, and city and canyon views. Since it last changed hands in 2007 for $1.9275 million, the 10,000 square foot property has cycled on and off the market regularly, starting in 2008 with an asking price of $2.775 million. It's now listed at $1.875 million.
