Die Hard producer Joel Silver has gone ahead as promised and purchased the WPA-era Venice Post Office; reno work has already begun (Silver will be bound by a preservation covenant, although he's said he doesn't want to mess with the building anyway). The building's "Story of Venice" mural still belongs to the federal government, but Silver will be allowed to keep it in place so long as it's kept open to the public. The relevant parties are now hashing out potential viewing hours. [Venice Patch, previously]
