Earlier this week, Santa Monica and Culver City officials met with representatives of CicLAvia--the semi-annual bike party that closes off numerous LA streets to vehicular traffic--to discuss bringing the event to the Westside. CicLAvia is partially subsidized by the city of LA, which pays for services like police, so aside from obtaining approvals, the challenge of bringing CicLAvia to SaMo is getting the smaller city to also provide services. CicLAvia co-founder Aaron Paley says it's still a possibility a Westside expansion could happen for the April event. [SM Patch]
