FAIRFAX: Get that Lactaid ready: Eric Greenspan, 2008 winner of LA's Grilled Cheese Invitational, is moving toward an opening on his grilled cheese restaurant on Melrose and Gardner, aptly named Greenspan's Grilled Cheese (pictured). A November opening is the latest word, according to Eater.

FAIRFAX: Just a little bit west, the ROFL Cafe has opened (the acronym stands for Republic of Laughter Cafe somehow). Eater is fond of the brightly-lit space and the hearty, American meals. No booze, but Intelligentsia coffee is served.

PASADENA: In the former Dish Bistro on Union in Old Town, a whiskey bar called Union Street Bar & Grill is forming. No indication on an opening, but the place is from Ryan Sweeney of Little Bear and The Surly Goat. If you get too sauced, the Gold Line is two blocks away.

BRENTWOOD: The Cheesecake Factory on San Vicente is shuttering on September 26, reports Eater. Hmmm, wonder what will take its place?
