Groups known as the Malibu Community Preservation Alliance and the Malibu Township Council have filed a lawsuit to stop the installation of 70 foot tall lights at Malibu High School's athletic fields, reports the Malibu Patch. The group claims that the school reneged on earlier promises that it would install temporary lights and only allow the use of the lights 16 nights a year. Late in June, the City Council approved a coastal development permit and a temporary use permit for 70 foot tall lights that can be used up to a maximum of 61 nights a year. [Malibu Patch]
