Malls are clinging to life by adding more experience-based shops to their lineups (pottery places, blowdry bars), says the New York Times. The most experience-based mall of all, of course, is The Grove, where you can ride a trolley and catch a taping of Extra. Owner Rick Caruso is a little giddy about it: "Traditional malls were 'intended to put the old Main Street out of business and divert that shopper? It’s wonderfully ironic that that whole thing has come back around.'"
