Something bananas has been going on in Malibu's Newton Canyon since the late seventies: it involves 235 acres of land, 25 acres of vineyard, three houses, three swimming pools, rams, and maybe sections of the Berlin Wall? This is the estate of George I. Rosenthal, whose company Raleigh Enterprise owns the Raleigh Studios, the Sunset Marquis, and the Rosenthal Estates wine label. According to the Wall Street Journal, Rosenthal started putting the property together in 1977; the listing says it was designed by Louis Angelikis "as a meticulous homage to the Mexican hacienda tradition, yet contemporized for modern living." It includes eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a gym, a six-car garage, and a fully operational vineyard, which "includes a tasting room, banquet room, cold storage room and office." But any buyer might want to be prepared to share--a Rosenthal Estates rep tells The Hollywood Reporter "We hope to still get the grapes off the estate—we don’t make the wine there anyway." Asking price is $59.5 million.
