LA Kids Are Spoiled

New, 21 comments

The New Yorker this week wonders why American kids are so spoiled--it focuses on work by UCLA's Center for Every Day Life, which filmed 32 Los Angeles families for every minute of every day and found that they kids are braaaaats: "In the L.A. families observed, no child routinely performed household chores without being instructed to. Often, the kids had to be begged to attempt the simplest tasks; often, they still refused. In one fairly typical encounter, a father asked his eight-year-old son five times to please go take a bath or a shower." [New Yorker]
