Touring (Fer) Studio's La Canada House in La Canada Flintridge

New, 5 comments

The Saturday before last, Dwell on Design held the first of three (three!) home tours, covering five houses on the eastishside of town. We've already seen Eel's Nest and the Sunia Home, both in Echo Park, so now we're touring the other three. (Stay tuned for photos from the prefab tour, held last Sunday, and the Westside Home tour, held this past weekend.)

The La Canada Residence started life as an eighties-era "cottage style ranch"--Inglewood-based (fer) studio brought it into the present and added a master bedroom suite along the side of the house, opening onto the backyard. The firm reworked the existing pitched roof and replaced part of the front wall of the house with glass walls and a big wooden door. They also raised the ceilings in the foyer and dining room (at the front of the house) and took out interior walls "to create a visual link from the front courtyard to the rear yard."
