Touring OKB Architecture's Avon Residence in Pasadena

New, 12 comments

This past Saturday, Dwell on Design held the first of three (three!) home tours, covering five houses on the eastishside of town. We've already seen Eel's Nest and the Sunia Home, both in Echo Park, so we'll be touring the other three all this week. (Stay tuned for photos from the prefab tour, held on Sunday.)

OKB Architecture's Avon Residence addition is all about the building code workaround (and color!)--the original 1940s house sits in Pasadena's Hillside District, where adding anything too big or too crazy can be a huge pain. So the firm created a 500 square foot addition that can serve as a master bedroom or multipurpose room. It's topped with a roof deck that stretches above the neighboring houses (and which also offers views of the owners' killer edible garden). The Avon is actually about to hit the market--more on that soon.
