The 340 ton boulder centerpiece of LACMA's soon-to-open "Levitated Mass" sculpture is one of the heaviest things ever moved by man. LA artist Mungo Thomson is making his own version that's so light it'll float: his Fourth of July parade float for the Aspen Art Museum will be a half-size, helium-filled balloon version of LA's favorite rock. It'll be tethered at the AAM all summer. [LAT, image via]
