Online rideshare community Zimride launches in Los Angeles this week (with routes inside LA and to Vegas, San Diego, and points in between), and to mark the occasion, the company surveyed LA drivers on their little driving secrets. Believe it or not, 58 percent of respondents think it's preferable to leave before 4 pm on a Friday to dodge traffic (rather than after 7 pm); most people want to head to San Diego for the weekend (followed by Santa Barbara); and everyone of course thinks the 405 has the worst traffic. Our favorite question, though, was about the best shortcuts around town: Bette Davis's famous advice ("take Fountain") only took the second spot and the venerable Outpost didn't even make the list.
