Father's Office Beckons: Expo Line Tests Culver City Trains

New, 29 comments

Last night Metro turned on the juice for the electrical wires that run between the Expo Line's La Cienega and Culver City stations, reports The Source. The trains immediately began test runs to the terminus of the light rail's first phase near Venice and Robertson (the line opened to La Cienega a few weeks ago). A few minutes into the video, trains crisscross the dark, industrial expanse between La Cienega and Robertson, passing near the Hayden Tract office park (much of it designed by architect Eric Owen Moss) and the Helms Bakery complex, which holds the beloved Father's Office restaurant. Expo follower Dwight Sturtevant posted video of last night's testing on Expo's Facebook page: check out 5:25 and 6:05, where the train appears to lift off and start flying. Opening for the Culver City stop--as well as the Farmdale station between La Brea and Crenshaw--is planned for next month.
