Wish Canopy Over Half the Sky, Your Best Car-Free Day in LA

BRENTWOOD: The exhibition Women Hold Up Half the Sky, which "tells stories of women from around the globe who have changed their lives through education, economics, and self-determination," is showing now through May 20 at the Skirball. The museum's sent along these photos of the billowing installation "Wish Canopy" that runs over the show--it was designed by Lisa Little and Emily White of the Venice architecture firm Layer and is "designed to hold visitor wishes on colored paper," so that it becomes more colorful over time. LOS ANGELES: The good people at Good magazine and transportation crowdsourcing project LA/2B have launched a contest to find a fantastic car-free itinerary for a day in LA ("Where do you want to go—by bus, foot, bike, or even horseback?"). Submit your idea by May 15 for a chance to win $500 to make it happen; readers will vote for the best plan from May 15-31. [Curbed Inbox]
