Kitty Rescue on Skid Row

The One at a Time Church at Seventh and San Julian is packing up and moving after losing funding, reports the Downtown News. Caught up in that bad news are the kitties of Skid Row, who were often fed by church employees. Santa Monica-based Voice for the Animals came to their aid, rescuing 26 kittens and two grown cats as of May 1 (the DN's Gary Leonard has a priceless shot of a tiny kitten being saved). More Feline 911 is coming--there are apparently dozens of stray cats wandering around the city's toughest neighborhood. And they need good homes, the organization notes. [DN]
