Westwood developer California Landmark (behind projects including the bw at Wilshire and Barrington) broke ground in early March on a 79 unit apartment complex on Hollywood Blvd., just west of Fairfax. The design, by Agoura Hills's PK Architecture, is described in a release as "old Hollywood residential," as well as 1920s and '30s "California courtyard." CL also plays up the close walk to Sunset, as well as the extensive landscaping, which comes courtesy of LA firm Rios Clementi Hale. The complex will have fountains, pools, brickwork, hand painted tiles and "lavish gardens," along with a rooftop pool with city views, media room, gym, fire pit area, and guest parking and storage. All this rental luxury won't come cheap--rents for the one and two bedroom units will go from $2,300 to $3,900 when the development opens in fall 2013.
