The demolition of the early twentieth century Riverside-Figueroa Bridge in Northeast LA and the rebuilding of a new car-centric version is boneheaded, writes Joe Linton on the LA Creek Freak blog. Right now, construction work is forcing pedestrians to take a five to 10 minute detour, or avoiding one by walking across traffic lanes and hopping over the barriers. Linton notes that both sides of the bridge will soon be off-limits and a shuttle may be made available to ferry walkers across the construction site. [LA Creek Freak, previously]
