Here's the Rubble That Used to Be Lloyd Wright's Moore House

New, 74 comments

The Moore House, designed by Lloyd Wright and built in 1959, was swiftly demolished yesterday down in Palos Verdes Estates. After a lengthy preservation battle, the LA Conservancy lost a final appeal on Tuesday night and the owner moved fast and furious on Wednesday. Soon, a 6,000 square foot Mediterranean-style house will rise on the former site of the glassy, winged Wright. A member of the Conservancy's Modern Committee visited yesterday and reports back with these photos. She writes "The owner was there admiring the destruction when I stopped. He said to me 'It was beautiful, but a terrible house to live in' and his new home will be 'a wonderful thing for the neighborhood'."
