DOWNTOWN: The PacMutual complex, on Sixth Street between Grand and Olive, has sold to Rising Realty Partners, which plans to tweak the space into "a marquee lifestyle commercial office space for Class A local, regional and national tenants," according to a press release. Right now occupancy is at 63% and tenants include the LA Conservancy and architecture firm NBBJ. The property includes three buildings linked up via passages on the first six floors; the first was built in 1908 and designed by John Parkinson and Edwin Bergstrom. KCET explains how the building fits into the origin story of the Downtown we know and love today--Pacific Mutual Insurance moved there from San Francisco (along with all kinds of other businesses) after its old building was demolished in the aftermath of the 1906 earthquake.
