Fewer Cars at UCLA Than In 1990

New, 10 comments

UCLA is amazingly winning the war on traffic, according to new numbers reported in the Daily News. Vehicle numbers at UCLA are at the lowest levels since the university started tracking traffic in 1990, dropping dramatically since the peak in 2003. Only a quarter of UCLA students drive solo to campus; the vast majority opts to carpool, bus, bike, skateboard, or walk in (the coming subway should help even more). But UCLA employees also do their part, with only 52.9% of the school's 26,000 employees driving themselves to Westwood. The university strongly encourages transit and provides financial incentives to take it. [Daily News]
