The Elysian Reservoir is about to be covered up with a giant floating rubber hat, reports the Eastsider LA. At the end of a 25 year battle, the LADWP commissioners voted today to cap the reservoir and rejected "a much more expensive proposal that would build underground storage tanks topped by new park space." They'll also "spend about $3.5 million in improvements to the surrounding park, including planting new trees, improving trails and bathroom facilities and building a new water line." All reservoirs must be covered or converted soon under federal law. [Eastsider LA, image via]
