Buy a Condo Project in the Palisades, Design Competition For Sixth Street Viaduct Announced

PACIFIC PALISADES: Who wants to build 54 cliffside condos in Pacific Palisades? A project called Tramonto, which includes 3.55 acres with entitlements and (crucially) Coastal Commission approval for condos, is up for sale. The project land is high above Sunset Blvd., right by the Pacific Coast Highway, and the sales brochure promises that most future residents will have unobstructed ocean views. The brochure also says that work can start as soon as escrow closes, but only that "The seller has not established a specific asking price, but is a market sensitive seller willing to consider reasonable offers." ARTS DISTRICT: Last fall, the City Council voted to replace the ailing Sixth Street Viaduct (it has concrete cancer) with a fresh-looking cable bridge, and the AIA/LA, Friends of the LA River, and other design and river watchers have been hoping the city will build something world class. Today, Mayor Villaraigosa was set to announce the launch of a design competition for the project, so start exercising your drafting hand, Santiago Calatrava. [Curbed Inbox]
