ForYourArt's New Wilshire Space, Meter Madness in West LA

MIRACLE MILE: If you picked up a donut after your viewing of The Clock at LACMA last weekend, then you already know that the art boosters at ForYourArt have opened their first space, just across from the museum at 6020 Wilshire. More than 2,000 people showed up for free round-the-clock donuts, according to a press release, and they've got a slightly less fattening event lined up for this weekend--Pacific Standard Time in Print: The Catalogue Show rounds up more than 40 catalogs produced in conjunction with mega SoCal art survey Pacific Standard Time (which sadly closes up this weekend, but happily with an admission-free day at many venues). The exhibition runs Saturday from 11 am to 8 pm and one lucky attendee will win the entire catalog collection. FYA has also put out a call for proposals for things to do in their new space. WEST LA: Back in 2009 we wrote about the seriously confusing meters on West Third St.--some of them go until 8 pm, while signs on the street say "2 hour parking 8 am to 6 pm." It's nearly three years later and a reader writes: "It's still happening! I got a parking ticket last summer (on Pico in WLA), but the meter didn't match the sign. According to the sign, I should have been fine to park there. I disputed the ticket, and heard nothing until yesterday-- 9 months later!! I now owe nearly 3x as much and it will soon go to collections. Is there anyone I can contact at LADOT?" [Curbed Inbox]
