Peek Inside UCLA's Bel Air Carter House, Street Pianos For All

BEL AIR: UCLA listed its Carter House in Bel Air late last month, with only a few teasing listing photos. The school is trying to sell the house and the neighboring Hannah Carter Japanese Garden--both gifts from former chair of the UC Board of Regents Edward W. Carter and his wife Hannah Carter--to cover endowments and professorships that the Carters had wanted to fund. Finally today we get to see a few interior photos of the house--turns out it's predictably impressive, although perhaps a bit more carpeted than one might have expected. Asking price is still $9 million. [Redfin]

ALL OVER: The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra is setting up 30 public pianos around SoCal in April for your street piano playing pleasure. The installation "Play Me, I'm Yours" was created by artist Luke Jerram and has already shown up in 22 cities around the world. The local pianos will be decorated by artists including Kent Twitchell and they'll debut on April 12 with a simultaneous performance from Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1 by musicians including Jeffrey Kahane, Grant Gershon, and Mark Robson, as well as local music students. Anyone, even if they only know a few bars of "Fur Elise," can play the pianos through May 3. They'll all have "piano buddies" to watch over them and get periodic tunings. Check out the list of piano locations below. More information here. [Curbed Inbox]
