The West Hollywood City Council really doesn't like the latest Bravo reality schlock-fest, Shahs of Sunset, which portrays LA's Iranian community as spoiled, elitist, and materialistic. The council this week passed a resolution condemning the show for perpetuating negative stereotypes about the area's Iranian-American community: "Negative stereotypes disseminated about any group should raise concern as this can lead to discrimination and, in extreme cases, even violence." The city stopped short of pushing for cancellation of Shahs, instead asking Bravo and Ryan Seacrest Productions to stop the stereotypes. [City of WeHo]
