At around 4:30 this morning, a driver hit a parked car and several potted plants at the new Sunset Triangle pedestrian plaza in Silver Lake before abandoning his vehicle and running off, Eastsider LA reports. Julie Wong, spokesperson for Councilmember Eric Garcetti, tells Eastsider that street services is cleaning up the mess and the LADOT will replace the planters from their existing supply. Meanwhile, some commenters take the crash as evidence that pedestrian plazas (rather than cars) are dangerous. [Eastsider LA, image via]
