ECHO PARK: The design boosters at Design East of La Brea are holding their Echo Park House Tour this weekend, covering four houses that were all built within the last year and that are all within a mile of each other. (They're classified as S, M, L, and XL, although even XL is a pretty normal 2,000 square feet.) And guess what! We have one pair of tickets to give away! All you have to do is make sure to like us on Facebook; we'll post on how to win later today. You can also buy tickets here. [Curbed Inbox]

SILVER LAKE: One of Richard Neutra's sons, Dr. Raymond Richard Neutra, is putting a prototype lamp by his famous architect father up for auction, with all proceeds going to the restoration of the Neutra VDL studio and residences (which can definitely use it). The lamp is one of only two known extant examples and has been in the Neutra family since it was made in 1942. On the LA Modern Auctions site, Dr. Neutra says "This lamp and I have grown old together, surviving the batterings of seven decades and showing the inevitable scars. Like me, it began its life in the experimental live/work space of the Neutra Studio and Residences in the Silver Lake District of Los Angeles. However, soon it was to be seen in use in the apartment that my father designed in 1942 for my grandparents on Kelton Avenue in Westwood. The electrical fire at Silver Lake in 1963 reduced another similar lamp to ash. It was said in the family that this kind of lamp had been designed by my father so that they could be easily built by shipyard workers at his now destroyed 1942 Channel Heights housing community." It'll be auctioned on May 6 and is expected to fetch $20,000 to $30,000. [Curbed Inbox]
