LA's First Pedestrian Plaza Opens Sunday, SoCal Modern LEGO

New, 11 comments

SILVER LAKE: Los Angeles officially gets its first pedestrian plaza this weekend with the grand opening of the Sunset Triangle Plaza on Sunday. The polka dotted project shuts down a bit of Griffith Park Blvd. (between Sunset and Edgecliffe) to cars and opens it up as a public space to pedestrians, bikers, skaters, and loungers (this is our version of Times Square--baby steps). The fun starts at 11 am on Sunday. [Curbed Inbox]

LEGOLAND: YES. If LEGO won't acknowledge Los Angeles architecture, we'll take the matter into our own hands. Mega SoCal art survey Pacific Standard Time is teaming up with Dwell for the Lego Modern Home Design Competition--to enter, just "build an original modern home inspired by California midcentury modern design using Legos, photograph the construction and submit it to Dwell.com between March 1 and 29." We'll all vote for the top five starting April 1 and a panel of experts will pick the winner (prize: $250, an "Ice Cube Celebrates the Eames" poster, and LEGO architecture sets). All the details are here. [Curbed Inbox]
