The Mid-City West Community Council, which covers a significant area including Fairfax, Melrose, Beverly Grove, Carthay, Miracle Mile, and Mid-Wilshire, has temporarily disbanded its Planning and Land Use Committee. The committee's chairman will stay on and draft a proposal to reform the committee, while the Council's board will take over planning issues. Jeff Jacobberger, first vice chair of the executive council, hints at an intriguing reason for the breakup: "There is kind of a core group of people who were on that land use committee who feel that residents are the only kind of legitimate voice for the neighborhood."
