1911 Arts & Crafts House By Sylvanus Marston Selling Short

New, 10 comments

Three years ago, this pedigreed property in Pasadena's Prospect district was riding high, the subject of an admiring "Home of the Week" feature in the LA Times. At the time, the five-bedroom residence, designed by the illustrious Sylvanus Marston in 1911, was on the market for $2.295 million, just a shade less than what it sold for in 2006. Alas, the house, which features tiger oak built-in cabinets, pocket doors, window seats and inglenooks, a sun porch/playroom, an English-style garden, and "outdoor kitchen, private spa and outdoor fireplace featured on HGTV," failed to find a buyer, and according to public records has been listed and delisted a couple times since then. It's now listed as a short sale with an asking price of $1.595 million.
