Following the Planning Commission in October, the City Council today greenlit the giant Village at Westfield Topanga project, the Daily News reports. By about 2013, West Valleyites will get a Costco and 50 new shops spread among four retail buildings, while a 12-story office tower, hotel, and additional retail arrive in a later phase expected around 2016. This is the project that some in the Valley decried, calling it too suburban for the relatively dense Warner Center area. What's so suburban you ask? Possibly the 3,362 parking spaces. [Daily News]
