1927 French Chateau on Mount Angelus Asking $699k

New, 33 comments

This imposing little 1927 chateau (with LA dream factory details like crenellations over the garage) looks like something you might find in Los Feliz or above the Sunset Strip, but here it is in Highland Park with a much smaller pricetag than you'd see west of the 5. The house was sold at foreclosure auction in 2009 for $335,325 and looks to have been thoroughly worked over--the listing says it has "plenty of original old world details blended with an abundance of modern upgrades," with "arched doorways, original built ins and iron wall sconces, period light fixtures, hand carved doors, stained glass windows, living room with stone fireplace and vaulted beamed ceilings, formal dining room with coved ceilings and built in hutch, remodeled kitchen with marble counters and stainless steel appliances, a cozy wine cellar, two large bedroom suites," and on and on. The 1,832 square foot house is now asking $699,000.
