Touring Carson Architects's Walk Street Remodel

New, 5 comments

This past weekend, we hit six of the nine houses on the Venice Modern Home Tour. We've already made some notes on decor (Aniston! Turtles! Corbu!), so now on to the architecture.

Carson Architects's house on Nowita Court (a walk street) is actually a remodel "designed to incorporate then entirety of the lot and provide at least one wall in every room open to the exterior." The house was originally built in 1950, but Carson added a second story, set back from the street, and rearranged the ground floor into "three linked spaces"--the entry and living room, the living/dining area, and the dining/spa area. The second-floor master has two movable walls and opens up to a porch and a little green roof.
