The vacant Circuit City currently on a prime piece of Silver Lake real estate on Sunset will be occupied later this year, but it won't be an organic market, cavernous wine bar, roller disco, or anything fun like that. The structure is currently being renovated by its tenant, the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and a hospital representative tells us the former CC will be used as office space for hospital employees, likely by the end of the year. The news comes after a Whole Foods hoax, Councilmember Eric Garcetti voicing support for a mixed-use development there, and suggestions for an Erewhon grocery store. The grosto, currently on Third, asked for suggestions for a new store location in Silver Lake and received many recommendations that it move into the big red CC. Erewhon president Tony Antoci tells us he "would love [the grocery store]" to be there, but the Children's Hospital had dibs, so the Erewhon search continues.
