BEVERLY GROVE: Today the 8500 Burton project tweeted this construction shot of itself with a giant crane stuck right in what looks to be its atrium. The project from the Grove's Rick Caruso will one day host 88 apartments and a Trader Joe's. [Twitter]

VENICE: The Venice Modern Home Tour is this weekend, featuring nine--count 'em: NINE--"architecturally progressive homes on the Westside." The houses were selected by Ingrid Spencer, former managing editor of Architectural Record, and include works by Tighe Architecture, Glen Irani Architects, the Studio of Environmental Architecture, Carson Architects, Martin Leon & Cintia Hanada, and Sander Architects. Tickets are $30 (buy them here) and part of the proceeds will go to the Venice Community Housing Foundation. We're also giving away a pair to one lucky newsletter subscriber, so if you haven't already signed up, do so below and we'll send out instructions in tomorrow's newsletter. [Curbed Inbox]
