New Open Source Bike Maps

New, 2 comments

Streetsblog reports that a volunteer mapping website for bike riders is open for business in Los Angeles. Here's how the Ride the City system differs from the other big names in maps: "Unlike Google Maps and other commercial mapping programs, the data entered by users is available to download with an open license." As for the differences in the way the program works: "Google Maps has you enter the addresses then select bicycling then you are presented a favored route and a selection of other routes to choose from. With Ride the City, you put in the addresses and select between 'safe,' 'safer' and 'quickest.'" [Streetsblog/Ride the City]
