The Triumphant Return of Los Feliz's "Grey Gardens"

New, 35 comments

Here's a listing that almost warrants a Three Stooges-esque double-take. This 1920s Mediterranean first came to our attention in September 2010--back then, the Los Feliz residence was described rather fancifully by its listing copy as "Grey Gardens," and somewhat less fancifully by commenters as a crackhouse, due to its shockingly dilapidated condition. Listed at $549,000--cash only--the tore-up-from-the-floor-up property ultimately traded hands in March 2011 for $575,000. And now the old girl's sashaying back, having undergone quite a dramatic transformation. That includes room configuration: previously a two-bedroom, one bath, the 1,786 square foot residence apparently now has three bedrooms and three baths. However, per the new listing, "it has retained great original details, including hand painted beam ceilings, wood burning fireplace, hardwood floors, plaster walls, antique door and window hardware." Other features include an "updated kitchen with marble counters and Viking range" and "master with walk-in closet, marble bath with claw foot tub and stall shower." Sited on a 7,000 square foot lot above Los Feliz Boulevard, it's now asking $1.195 million.
