This was the first year of the rest of the LA River's life, and it capped it off just a few weeks ago with the opening of phase one of the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk--the linear park runs along a natural-bottomed section of the river roughly between Paula Avenue and Garden Street. It includes a half-mile trail, horse facilities, a few small park areas, "enhancement of wildlife habitat in the river channel, and educational and interpretive exhibits," according to Glendale's website. "Next up is a trail bridge over a storm drain near DreamWorks Animation at Flower Street," according to the LA Times; eventually there will also be a footbridge to connect to Griffith Park.
