Santa Monica smokers will soon be asked to out themselves, the Santa Monica Daily Press reports. While new renters in the city are already banned from smoking in their units--including medical marijuana (though a doctor's note can be obtained for exceptions)--a new law takes effect next month requiring landlords and condo associations to send surveys to each unit asking them to identify their living space as "smoking" or "non-smoking." Those who don't respond will be branded with an S identified as smokers. [SMDP]
