Mixed-Use Fake-Out With Formosa South at the Lot Offices

New, 26 comments

Not far from the epicenter of LA construction on La Brea Avenue is an under-the-radar project rising near Formosa and Santa Monica Boulevard: the Formosa South at the Lot offices (this is the old United Artists studio that's been at the center of a preservation battle). Skyscraper Page tipster DistrictDirt finds that construction is progressing quickly on the five-story, 120,000 square foot building, with subterranean parking. Though it looks like a mixed-use apartment complex in Santa Monica, it's indeed just offices for The Lot movie studio, next door. "The building is the first phase of a larger scale master plan aimed at creating an integrated media, technology, and entertainment production campus on the historic movie studio site," according to architect Studio One Eleven.
