See Tons of Gamechanging LA Projects That Never Got Built

New, 18 comments

Starting in March, the A+D Architecture and Design Museum will host Never Built: Los Angeles, an alternate history-fest showing the "visionary works that had the greatest potential to reshape the city," but never got the chance. Curators Sam Lubell and Greg Goldin spent two years researching and "have unearthed countless untold stories and hundreds of beautiful yet buried images," according to their Kickstarter page (Yep, they need to raise some money to make sure it happens as planned--go donate, because we reeeeeeally need to see this.). Clive Wilkinson Architects is designing the show, which will turn the little museum into "an alternative version of Los Angeles, with an amazing floor map of the city as a guide." There will also be a seven-foot-tall LEGO tower. The show will include "master plans, parks, amusements parks and even transportation proposals like subways, monorails, and aerial transport" from great SoCal architects including Frank Lloyd Wright, John Lautner, Rudolph Schindler, Frank Gehry, and Thom Mayne. They've put together a mindblowing video slideshow of some of the projects--watch and dream:
