Virgin's Plush New LAX "Loft," War Over Broken Meters Rages

New, 19 comments

LAX: Virgin America this week debuted its new Virgin America "Loft" at LAX. Sitting outside security in Terminal 3, the Loft offers a club-like experience for those waiting to board flights out of the airport, with mood lighting, WiFi, cocktails, and lots of food options. Take a tour in the video above, and check out more of LAX's upgrades here. [Curbed Inbox]

LOS ANGELES: City Councilmember and mayoral candidate Jan Perry is fighting for your right to park at a busted meter. On January 1, a new state bill allows parking at inoperable meters and pay stations (up to the posted time limit, of course), but the city has decided to continue its policy of ticketing anyone who parks at such meters. Perry wants the city to stop the ticketing--now. "It is [the city's] responsibility to do our best to maintain meters. It is unfair and impractical to force drivers to look for a new parking spot just because a meter is inoperable," she said in a statement. [Curbed Inbox]
