Top 10 'Hoods That Want/Don't Want Condoms in Their Porn

New, 12 comments

On Tuesday, Los Angeles County voters passed Measure B, which increases enforcement and requirements for condom use in porn. The porn industry is not happy--they're talking about taking their business to Pasadena, which along with Vernon and Long Beach is not covered by the new rules. Either Vernon voters knew about the loophole and don't want the porn industry coming to town, or they just love condoms (or, most likely, they have a very small, non-representative voter pool), because the city approved the measure by the greatest percentage of any area in the county. Meanwhile, the Daily News reports that the Valley also strongly supported Measure B, "even though it is the home of the multibillion-dollar adult film industry"--the measure passed there with 51 percent of the vote (the entire city of LA passed it with 56 percent). The measure failed in Council District 4, covering areas of the South Valley and Hollywood; CD5, covering areas of the South Valley and the Westside; CD12, covering Chatsworth and areas of the North Valley; and CD11, covering West LA, Venice, and the LAX area.

Unsurprisingly, perhaps, men were more likely to oppose the new condom rules, by 61 percent. Women supported them by 63 percent. And "Among the different ethnic groups, blacks gave it the highest level of support at 69 percent, while only 41 percent of whites supported Measure B, according to the exit polling. Latinos stood at 62 percent support, Asians at 56 percent." Now here are the top 10 areas that supported and opposed condoms in porn, according to the LA Times spreadsheet on the returns:
