A few weeks ago, Harwell Hamilton Harris's Laing House in Pasadena's Poppy Peak popped up on the market as a short sale. Rather unnervingly, the listing copy neglected to mention the historic property's pedigree, included no photos, and seemed to almost take sadistic pleasure in outlining the work needed on the 1930s-era house. But given the two-bedroom, two-bath residence's asking price of $549,000, we had a hunch it would be snapped up lickety-split, and it appears this was indeed the case--its status went pending just one week after being listed.
