1950s Neutra in Los Feliz With Unfortunate 1990s Makeover

New, 30 comments

Here now, From Curbed Marketplace, highlighting an intriguing real estate listing from the many thousands of properties found in the Curbed Marketplace. Browsing the Marketplace and spot a property worthy of being featured? Send it to the tipline.

The copy for this new listing in Los Feliz starts off quite promisingly--"A fantastic [Richard] Neutra post & beam home on the market for the 1st time in 42 years!!!"--but don't get too excited, because here's the next sentence: "Originally a 1Bd/1Ba, the home was extensively renovated in approx 1990 to nearly double its size." Are your expectations adjusted? Good. Moving on: "The renovation was designed and overseen by Dion Neutra and exudes the feel and look of what the Neutra name stands for." Hmmm ... we suspect many people will beg to differ with that last part. That being said, the two-bedroom, two-bath residence isn't without its charms, such as its private, woodsy setting, high ceilings, clerestory windows, brick fireplace, and mountain views. Sited on a .34-acre lot within the much-hyped Ivanhoe school district, it's asking $839,000.
