To call the parking lot at the Expo Line's terminus station in Culver City "paved" is stretching it--the material used to cover the ground is so cheap, it feels like parking at a county fair, with dust kicking up and rocks getting stuck in your tires. But improvements are coming, according to documents from the light rail's construction authority (pdf). The authority is now seeking contractor bids for a project entitled "Culver City Station Parking Lot Improvements," so there might be other additions besides a paving. The authority likely hoped the lot would hold up until a proposed mixed-use development slated for the parcel, complete with underground parking, opened up.
