Michael Jackson Death House Finally Sells For $18.1 Million

New, 18 comments

The over-the-top Holmby Hills mansion that Michael Jackson was renting when he died has finally sold for way under asking--according to the Wall Street Journal, sources say the buyer is "Steven Mayer, a senior managing director of private investment firm Cerberus Capital Management." Mayer bought the seven-bedroom house from Ed Hardy owner Hubert Guez and Roxanne Guez--they originally listed the house in 2008 asking $38 million, then rented the house to Jackson in 2009 for $100,000. In 2011, they sued a star maps-seller working down the street, saying she was scaring off potential buyers. Most recently they were asking $23.9 million. Megamansion developer Mohamed Hadid built the 17,171 square foot house in 2002 from a design by Richard Landry; the Guezes bought it in 2004 for $18.5 million. They sold to Mayer for $18.1 million.
