The modernist hairdresser Vidal Sassoon told Architectural Digest earlier this year: "Architects have always been my heroes" and he was certainly dedicated to the cause--he owned multiple high-class modern houses and spent years fixing up the Richard Neutra-designed Singleton House way up on Mulholland at the tip of Bel Air (the roof partially collapsed a few weeks after closing). The Sassoons put the house up for sale in 2007 asking $19.955 million, but it never sold. Vidal died this past spring and now the house has returned to the market asking $17.995 million. The Singleton was built in 1959 and comes with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a pool, and more than five acres of land.
