HOLLYWOOD: Berlin Currywurst, featuring German specialties, is set to open up shop in early December at a former barbecue spot on Cahuenga. An expansion of a small Silver Lake operation, the new restaurant features a fire pit and outdoor beer garden on the EaCa pedestrian alley.
WEST HOLLYWOOD: Gaucho Chicken Cafe has opened near Sunset and Crescent Heights, featuring affordable and low-calorie meals (under 400 calories) that sound a little like what you'll find at California Chicken Cafe. But unlike CCC, GCC has booze.
PICO-ROBERTSON: A new neighborhood spot called A Food Affair is open for biz on Robertson, a few blocks south of Pico. The restaurant is a brick-and-mortar offshoot of a catering company whose clients include the big studios. No liquor license yet, but you're welcome to bring wine and there's no corkage fee.
DOWNTOWN: Josef Centeno, of Bäco Mercat fame, is opening his new restaurant, Bar Amá, on December 15. Operating on Fourth Street, Bar Amá is a Tex-Mex concept that features something called puffy tacos. Centano himself designed the interior.
